Oklahoma City

Raining and I'm all snugged up in Panera Bread. Just had my favorite - spinach and artichoke quiche for breakfast and good ol coffee.

I will tell you... as much as I love sunrises and sets and trees and water and mountains and nature and butterflies and birds and squirrels and whatever's running about ... not too keen on spiders and hate HATE the flying insect things that seem to want to hang around... gnats and teeny flies and bigger flies and bees and wasps... don't hate bees... they're pretty funny. They seem to just buzz about and be curious.

I've had them land on my hand ---- I'm very very still --- they'll just fly off. cute. where was I.... oh oh... well? Oklahoma City is a very large city. I hadn't really thought about it. I lived in Dallas for twenty years and Texas/OU football kept me pretty much away from Oklahoma NOT to mention the red dirt.

I had forgotten about the red dirt around here. Driving here and seeing ponds and lakes --- RED --- amazing. NOT my thang. Especially after the beautiful clear water and green and hilly Arkansas countryside.

Wanted to find a Whole Foods ... Siri did its job - then need to find my motel, Walmart - Siri found it, AND while doing all this important finding... I've now found a HUGE mall, Walmart, Whole Foods and Panera Bread all within a few minutes of each other.

I am in hog heaven.

Blue is the mall - red is Walmart and green is Whole Foods and then on up from Whole Foods about one minute is Panera Bread. Seriously!

Good ol Whole Foods ... great salad bar .... all good for me stuff and I don't do dressing. After all that fried stuff ... I feel redeemed! hah

I'm in no hurry to leave Oklahoma City. I'm feeling pretty content at the moment. I needed some big city. About one and a half million folks in the city itself.... Lots of stuff to see. Little Rock is under 200,000 and is a very nice medium sized city. It's been a while since I've spent time in a city this large. It clears my mind as well as the aforementioned nature.

I'll hang around here until I can make up my mind which direction to go. Interestingly ... Whole Foods is on Route 66! HAaaaa... you'd never know it. Only my iPhone shows 66 going around here.

  1. I like your healthy salads, and I seldom use salad dressings if there are lots of things like fruits and nuts and crispy veggies in my salads.

I've been catching up with some blogs and posted photos of my busy weekend and registered for next year as we get first pick since the venue is putting a ceiling on 200 people.

I may use a chalet as opposed to the hotel but that is for discussion with my girl and her friend.

Love seeing you enjoy yourself. Hugs. JB

  2. Gooood salad bar and for supper a bit ago I had the white bean and kale soup. no bread and just the small bowl. good on me... ;)

I have just been catching up with your blog! I was doing so earlier this morning at Panera Bread but they logged me out - it was beginning to be lunch time --- so I had to skedaddle...

A chalet? whoa! what fun would that be! Wonder why they limit the participants? So many creative people. As I commented on your blog... love piggy ... and the picture of your daughter! HAHAaaaa great sense of humor... love it!

  3. Spinach & artichoke quiche sounds soooo good! I'll have to remember Panera when I'm on the road in a week or so.

  4. Carolyn, they limit the amount of participant because of space to accommodate all these crafting people in the conference room. Already we have to use the only extra large adjacent room which makes it not as much fun as when we were all in one room. There are always some activities going on that can be missed if you are in the other room.

I'll post some more pictures of the retreat. The chalet sleeps 6, has a kitchen with fridge and microwave but only one bathroom upstairs. I can live with that instead of paying an arm and a leg for the hotel and meals.

I was up very early this morning and was so tired after supper that I crawled into bed under the blankets and slept until 9:30pm. I'd still be sleeping if it wasn't for my bladder being full. lol JB

  6. There is just something about Whole Foods..kind of like a haven for the weary. Maybe that is a good indication of how you want your life to be in the future??
