So.... I kept waking up - as soon as I tried to sleep again... ZOT ... terrible bad stuff ... can't remember what all it was except that it was me and no hope... terrible stuff. Finally got to sleep around 3:30am ... slept until about 5... BUT I felt surprisingly rested!
What the hell is going on with me. My innards wrestling my outards... whatever.
Beautiful morning.... didn't make coffee just decided to get dressed and get out in the day. Still craving eggs and potatoes and toast... saw The Egg and I yesterday and thought what a cute name so I went and it was deeeelicious. The best toast ever! Just what I needed. Great coffee! ought to be at $2.49! holy jeez but she did leave the carafe - I like that. As well as a carafe of iced lemon water.... my kinda place. Chunky potatoes and the eggs scrambled with three THREE different cheeses and topped with a smattering of scallions... good stuff.
Still felt pretty good so parked at the library and walked around this little town... it was soooo windy and it began getting colder. I didn't want to take any chances of getting any kind of worse. So reluctantly got back in Homer and just looked about and drove about a bit. I tried to take pictures but it was so windy. I found a couple online that will show the cuteness of this place. The Fall River winds through this entire area..... absolutely gorgeous. AND, when you're tired of river? just look upwards to the mountains... man oh man.
Started feeling a bit shaky and didn't want to push it... I am really really tired of not feeling good. So, came back and took a lil nap... felt great.
Needed to take care of a lil business. I changed auto insurance this afternoon ... Maryann is so cool. We printed the stuff out; I signed them; and she faxed them in for me. Of course ... Shadow stretched and stretched to climb on the keyboard and help. Told her I can do this. No chipmunks today!
After working up an appetite..... I decided a Subway sandwich would fit the bill. I tried their vegetable patty sub ... not bad! really hit the spot. I haven't been eating much at all and hopefully ... by filling myself with continuing good food will help clear the final bits of this mess hanging on.
Very pretty drive through Estes Park ... Subway, McD's and Safeway are on one side of Elkhorn Avenue... a very long Avenue... and the shops and cutesy places in the middle and on the other end. There are other streets that wind around Elkhorn and ... seriously... you can't get back from anywhere... I wound up in some really pretty places just trying to turn a corner ... reminds me of Little Rock... not many corners to turn... you gotta wind about a bit... but what fun!
Very interesting housing. There is really no place to pull over. There are parking areas and you walk. I could live here very nicely. Except for the winter. I just don't do snow and such even though Maryann said Estes Park usually misses the heavy stuff. I like this kinda of cold okay especially with no humidity! But when it gets really below 40º and into the nothings at night... way too much for me.
I will leave here Sunday morning and head ..... dunno
Any suggestions? I'm still planning on going down/up Highway 7 to Allenspark and St. Malo's Church then on to Colorado Springs... I think so. The weather is turning a bit cool --- Homer's okay at 36º but I don't like it. I have plenty of warm stuff. It's the getting up in the morning and getting dressed in the cold... brrrrrr
I don't like really sleeping in clothes I wear out but I will. I brought sweats then can change as it warms up.
I don't know.... I've said it before and I'll say it again..... the ONLY thing I'm sure of is I know absolutely nothing... zip nada
To bad about the nightmares, could be from the cold meds. But at least you are starting to feel better.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what kind of car Homer is besides it being Honda? Since I sold my class c lots of things are running around in my head. I am still thinking cargo van. Throw a bed in it and go.
could be... but I only took four doses of the generic Nyquil stuff and Ricola cough drops... I think it was the culmination of stored up crap...
DeleteI feel great today! yay!
Homer is a 2007 Odyssey - mini van ... I took out his middle seats and left up the smaller of the back seats - the back seats fold down and under. My cot is on that side.
I have posts about how I fixed Homer up but blast if I can remember where... surely at the beginning somewhere! You can sure throw a bed in and go and add stuff as you go... a porta potty was a must for me.
So, basically start out with a bed and a porta potty - mine is the hassock kind at WM for $20 ... I use the odor/leak proof kitchen bags - works great. I've tried litter and other methods but this works really good for me.
Air beds/mattresses work great but the cot adds storage underneath. handy people make their own bed frame but hah... not I
I also have a small folding table and chair and a larger folding table with legs that scoot under - curved legs. a small pop up screen room - folding ice chest and an electric teapot - cup and glass and that sorta stuff.
I don't like or want to cook. If I'm going to be at a campground type place, I will take fruits and nuts and stuff that doesn't preparation or refrigeration. I enjoy going into the little towns or whatever's close by to eat.
It's fun at some places to go into the local one-stop fits all kind of places and they'll fix a great sandwich along with usually a great chat... ;)
Pagosa Springs,Co. is really really pretty and trendy...probably too cold right now though. Lots and lots of national forest roads to pull off on...
ReplyDeleteAh, did a map search ... southweest by Durango. I'm for sure going to go to Sedona, Arizona this trip. I have been in Colorado and New Mexico and Arizona several times but seem to have missed the lure of the desert. Sedona is one place that I've been told is really a must see/feel kinda place.
DeleteSo... Pagosa Springs would be on the way .... kinda... Haaaa...
Thanks, Sheryl -and again... I am going to have to try a night at a national forest road pull off but somehow that scares me... the four legged and two legged kind of varmints -- I mean for the four legged kind - I'd make quite a meal! the two legged kind would just be for meanness sake -- be really pissed off when they see I haven't a farthing.. haaa - I don't know - I don't carry any kind of weapn - scissors...
There is so much beautiful BLM land and forest service land in Arizona...all for free for two weeks at one location or $160 for six month permit and you can stay unlimited. Maybe next Nov we can hook up...
DeleteSilverton and Ouray are just beautiful--just like Estes Park and RMNP. Lots of places to boondock. My favorite is on South Mineral Creek about 5 miles north of Silverton toward Ouray. If you are interested, I can give you real directions. Is there any way you would share the location of the church and park boondock spots in Estes Park? I have a small van camper but no blog. beth7692@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteJust did a map search for them.... yes - also going south ... and yes, indeed I am interested! Y'all tell me about boondocking in remote places. This scares me as I've written.
Deletethe church is close to Allenspark just south of Estes Park on Highway 7. I'll let you know when I get there sometime tomorrow.
there was a fire in November and the retreat part is closed ... so dunno but it's a very historical chapel/church - look at this picture!

gorgeous
Nightmares are no fun and they can be caused by many factors like withdrawal from medication, depression and anxiety or even a heavy late night snack. I know that you have been sleep deprived lately. Hopefully you'll get a good night sleep tonight. A good soak in the tub if you have one might be relaxing before getting into bed.
ReplyDeleteLovely picture of the little town street or road.
I can't tell you where to go but I can follow, lol... JB
yeah, like I said... I think it's just the culmination of all the crap ... who knows... I had a beautiful, relaxing wonderful sleep last night!!! Soooo grateful. Haven't slept like that in at least a month!
DeleteI haven't been eating much at all and I hope I keep to that... not likely! knowing me.. sigh
I love to go to little shops and bakeries and such... I need to find a different kind of little shops to have fun in, huh... HAhaaaa
aw, jeeeeeeez --- they have homemade candy shops in this little place --- Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory! so far --- I haven't entered them! blast!
AND no pie... love pie, y'khow
I visited Colorado Springs quite a few years ago, and it was a cute little town. Lots of places to go nearby, such as Garden of the Gods. I used to have nightmares until I realized the demons in my nightmares were my fears being expressed. I decided then and there I would never again fear anything or anybody, and haven't had a nightmare since! Uncomfortable dreams now and then, but never a real nightmare.
ReplyDeletehiya Gypsy... yes I've been there too and plan on heading that way again... I tell you all of Colorado seems cute and beautiful and majestic and everything in between! love it here! always have. Just never stayed too long. always had to find a job and work... WORK... HAhaaaa remember Maynard G. Krebs?
DeleteI understand what you mean about your nightmares. Confronting them. outstanding.
I do a great deal of self sabotaging --- primarily because I'm a people pleaser. I'm blunt and outspoken and suffer from hoof'n'mouth disease but I'm not assertive enough when I should be. I don't like to hurt people's feeling when I should... seems they don't mind hurting mine! hah
These built up emotions of trying to 'fix' stuff has to manifest into something. nightmares... sickness... hives... whatever... confronting my demons is my quest. I'm on it... as we type.
Shadow's a demon eater ... ;) nature
Sure had a great night last night!
Enjoy reading about you and your family ----
