Well? don't know what else ... it's a little over 20,000 folks and I'm sitting in this cute little coffee house ... it is an absolutely stellar morning. Blue blue skies.
I left -- where was I yesterday... let's see Tuesday. Ah.... I drove from Wright Patman Lake to Wichita Falls, Texas and spent the night in a very lovely Walmart parking lot. Really was quiet. Got up and made myself decent, went to Atlanta Bread, got online and did yesterday's posting and such .... got lost looking for this and that... nothing unusual there.
Blast it! the maps thing won't let me know if I've gone the wrong direction until the little blue dot moves -- I don't know how far... drives me insane. I've got to fix that. I don't know north from south on a foreign street! Don't care if the sun is wherever it is... I know when it rises where I am and when it sets ... where I am... but when it does its ... oh, earth orbits the sun... what? I forget... yes... we go around the sun. it just sits there. I forget from time to time, my learning.
So... I got lost and saw some very interesting parts. Very pretty city. It's a little over 100,000 ... very nice. Not enough to hang around and explore - I'm anxious to get to someplace that is totally different from what I know. I love Colorado. Surely I have been to Boulder... can't recall.
Love Grand Lake and Estes Park .... anxious to get there but don't like to drive really long distances. Driving up 83 North is quite desolate. I mean places to sleep are few and far between. The highway is narrow and the little towns along the way probably wouldn't like for me to just stop and park... dunno. But I don't feel comfortable in that environment. Sidewalks if there are any ... fold up at dusk.
The fields are very green... frisky little calves and their Mothers (thought of you, Julia) and some ol bulls and donkeys and horses ... dotting the - as far as you can see - fields of green against blue and I mean BLUE skies. Texas is flat y'know.
Interestingly... when you do reach an incline... a Texas mountain... Haaaa.... you can really see forever. There was a very long train moving along with me .... it serpentined about --- looking quite pretty along with the black cows and bright green grass and oil wells still pumping! windmills and barns and well, if I could have found a place to pull over... it would have made a very pretty picture.
I love to hear trains clickety clack ...
It was 7pm when I got to Liberal... much later than I like to drive. This time of year, however, it is still light and especially in this type of terrain .... in Arkansas where it is hilly... the sun disappears very quickly.
I'm about to be totally full of coffee... had a wonderful breakfast of a vegetarian sandwich ... avocado, egg - tomatoes and provolone on a poppy seed bagel... very very good.
My plans are to drive no more than five hours today to Nebraska... McCook - spend the night then go West to Boulder on another back road - 34. I might explore Nebraska a bit. dunno. never been much of a Midwest fan ...
So! See y'all down the road... /bye
Here's a picture of my keyboard and granddaugher! It was her two year old birthday and she's at the Park -- Chelsea promised she'd send pictures and she did... ;)
Tee tiny return and shift keys ... that's a boo hiss and it doesn't light up at night --- booo
Chelsea said ... she told the goose to ... eat, bird, it's lunch!
Sigh ....
Oh my g-o-s-h, just look at that cutesy girl all dressed pink pretty with her little hands behind her back, "eat bird, it's lunch." So full of cute innocence.......
ReplyDeleteI hope that this picture doesn't send you back from where you came from. Just take it as a wonderful gift and sigh... Oh yeah, I see you already sighed...
It's a beautiful day here too, nothing but blue skies and sunshine. I slept with my window full open last night. Killed a mosquito in the garden and one in the bathroom. THEY ARE HERE ALREADY..... I do not like them, the pesky thing.
Have a great day. Hugs. JB
Thank you, Julia ;) .... she is so precious to me. and no... I went back once... sunshine and blue skies just makes eveerything seem so much better....
DeleteSo sorry about your back ... bummer .. .as I said I have an ornery muscle too... and yes. I had a greaet day but it was a long drive with flat flat flat terrain... boo hiss
Be in Colorado tomorrow EARLY
shee boy getting used to this keyboard ... man oh man
Let me know if I can walk you thru a copy and past routine!
You can get little glow in the dark stickers to use on those tiny shift/return keys, assuming you touch-type well enough to not need the other keys illuminated. Just a thought. :0)
ReplyDeleteI looked in WM this evening ... didn't see any ... saw some reflective tape but it will leave a residue... got some color coded label things but they don't glow in the dark! rats... but what a great idea... and I'll get some whenever I find them... thought they'd be in the kids drawing place... I earned my living touch typing for about 100 years ... haaaaa... .but this little ol keyboard with its spacing is going to take some time to get used to it.
DeleteI'm a learning... took me a while to get used to the Mac's keyboard .... still learning stuff
Oh, If you pass a 99cent store, they have all kinds of little reading lights. I have one that you can clip to a book or stand on it's own. Something like that would be great for the keyboard. And the batteries are already inside of them (check that first though, batteries are cheap there too otherwise). I also have another kind of light that you can hang from your neck for reading. I got that one to put on my visor to read maps with at night. Both lights have clips on them. OMG, she's soooo adorable!! I'm glad they sent you the pics & thanks for sharing them. Also, you might want to check out city parks. Some of them do let you stay the night (as you probably know). One time driving in nowhere Texas, I was about out of gas. So I had to pull beside the gas station & sleep there for the night as the station was closed for the night. The darn garbage truck ran all night & kept passing by! But I had no choice, needed gas....so had to wait.
ReplyDeleteThanks, and yes... I have those headlight thiingies .... but it surprisingly didn't work well looking down at the keyboard... that's a good idea about the book lights... I'm using my laptop light right now... have the iPhone keyboard setting on it and my iPhone braced against the screen .... at least I can see the color coded labels! but as I've said ... getting used to the spacing is going to take some time... but I'm already feeling a bit more comfortable... yee haw..\
Deleteand yes... she is so precious to me... thank you ... ; )
The only city park I have stayed at was in Austin.... forget the name of it ... it was a lady's name... not Lady Bird ... very nice park... I've stayed at police stations in the Finger Lake Region and at a commuter station in Connecticut... haaaa
Bu these days i want a spot with water and electric... we talked about how that is so much more coomfortable
When you get to Boulder go to the Leanin' Tree and Celsterial Tea's both are well worth the time.
ReplyDeleteglad you are enjoying yourself.
I sure will! ... know a good place to camp or stay? and yes, I believe I will enjoy it more when I get outta tihis flat flat couuntry .... sheeeeez
DeleteHi Carolyn, I'm so pathetic. I managed to copy the code but I had never done pasted it on my blog. I uploaded it onto my desktop but when I tried to upload it on my it only take photos or videos. So now I'll go look at my template setting to find Hot Mail and try again. Thanks. JB
ReplyDeleteI got it pasted on my blog. I had to go into my setting and install a gadget and paste it in my HTM text. This old dog just learned a new trick and she going to bed. Good bight. JB
