Oh God! I have I been missing my zest for life sooooooo much!"
| Homer and I going over a floating bridge in Vermont Joie de vivre I had it - I have it |
That quote above my picture is from a blog I read... The Adventures of Tioga and George. I know that everyone is familiar with his blog. His was one of the first I ever read and well, y'get hooked!
His son committed suicide last year ... his readers were devastated for him.
This is a quote from one of his posts a while back. I saved it and saw it again this afternoon while I was going through some stuff and purging m'files.
He has been full time RVing for nine years and is a continual source of inspiration for me. When I read that quoted post... it just hits me between m'eyeballs.
Carpe diem, y'all
The question:
O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life?
Answer:
That you are here—that life exists, and identity;
That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse.

~Walt Whitman
I have been reading George's blog for several years now, and am really enjoying his account of Guatemala. He isn't afraid to try something new and different, such as traveling someplace and staying in hotels.
ReplyDeleteHi Carolyn, It looks like you and Homer had plenty of zest for life on that floating bridge.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you are having a good day today. Hugs, JB
This. Is. Wonderful. A good reminder to me, and I thank you. Great photo of you and Homer crossing the bridge. The NE is beautiful, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHis courage after those two robbery attempts... wow... he blows me away. He changed the way he travels but look how he changed!
ReplyDeleteTalk about turning lemons into lemonade!
I even have his blog bookmarked on my iPhone... I check his blog twice a day... he is something else!
Hope you feel better today Gypsy!
'morning, Julia ;) ... that was quite an endeavor for me... it's a fun story about a couple who saw me just sitting there on 'this' side of the bridge after having just accidentally ended up here with no where to go but over or go back up a dirt and winding road and it was getting dark!
ReplyDeleteThey were the ones who took this picture and said... GO ... HAhaaaa...
Teresa, yes... I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed every single State in the NE... I wanted to see the Fall foliage in New England and this led me to all sorts of adventures.
ReplyDeleteMy original profile picture was that of me in this HUGE Adirondack chair at the the museum in the Adirondacks... Finger Lakes region...
Just gorgeous.
I tell you... this United States of America is one gorgeous place...
I have not spent too much time in your area... Minnesota. The 10,000 lakes! I went through there and stayed a couple of nights in Minneapolis-St. Paul... and wandered about a bit but didn't spend as much time as I wanted.
I wanted to see ALL the New England states before it got too cold for me.
I don't do snow and ice well at all!
I spent more time in Door County, WI and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan...
Just stellar stuff...
Your pictures of your place --- you live on the river -sigh- so relaxing and beautiful ... I wish I had planned better for m'old age...
That's why I like to travel in Homer... since I can't afford such a place --- we can visit a lot... even a mountain when we want.
Am I gone yet???
I don't know his blog, so thanks for the tip. I'll check it out right away. Recovering from a loved one's suicide...so hard. It takes a special kind of courage to continue writing the poetry of your life.
ReplyDeleteGalen, yes… check his archives … I believe David died in September of 2010. unbelievable…
ReplyDeleteI'd been reading Tioga George's blog for quite some time now. I actually found it through his youtube vids a few years back. Probably more than a few years since life keeps whizzing by! It was very sad about his son David. It really devastated him & it reflected in his blog. But I think it also made him a better man.
ReplyDeleteHe also turned me onto fancast, but then later, Hulu. I think fancast went down? But anyhow, George is a great man & an inspiration.
Floating bridge? Not sure what that is? But it looks kind of nerve wracking!
Cyn, yes… he is something… he's now 74 and just joined a gym!
ReplyDeleteIt was quite an adrenaline rush going across the bridge. I wasn't going to go at all but this great couple came across and saw me sitting there… Haa… the wife went across and came back and well… I reeeeally didn't want to go back the way I came up that winding dirt road to another highway…
There are only a few floating bridges … they are suspension type bridge but just hang in the water! Here's a websiste… quite an adventure!!
