Bill & Hillary Clinton National Airport

very damn cool... it was announced on the evening news that our airport has been renamed!

Oh, wow... four of the five local channels have nothing on but the weather screens... tornadoes everywhere... flooding and storms and all matter of terrible awful stuff!!!!

My son had the day off and drove down to see his baby. It's about a 3 and a half hour drive .... that's 7 hours driving time... you're welcome ;) ... This is jim dandy ... BUT it's stormy and tornadoey and all the bad stuff... I know he's 27 and he's a good driver BUT worry worry worry worry... ah me...

I prattled away at Facebook all day.... and watching every thing on TV ... man oh man -- everything from Toilet Yoga on The Doctors to Ty Pennington trying to teach Tim Gunn how to hammer a nail! Haaaa....

I should clean this house --- anything physical! .... get jiggy with it? ... and quit worrying about my son driving in storms ... Seems I'm not going to be able to do anything except fix and cook and eat a whole box of chocolate pudding with vanilla ice cream until he gets back safely. I am so freakin pathetic!

Sitting here with my laptop's screen reflecting moving branches outside. I have my door open and, of course, all blinds up... love light and air.... BUT since I see the reflection on my laptop? ... it looks pretty spooky... I turned around and saw that it was a branch instead of an extremely emaciated person coming in my door.

Right now - 7pm... looks like the baddest of the bad weather is moving north and east with Little Rock just being on the fringe. The route from Texarkana to Little Rock has flash flood warnings and heavy rains but no severe thunderstorms. I know Yates is a safe driver but it's the other dummies who think that just because it's raining doesn't mean THEY have to slow down... just drives me insane - the attitude of some of the people who are allowed to drive.

Cats were sitting out on the porch ... decided they'd come in - the wind blows the rain on the porch. They are so funny. I know that you who have animals and especially cats know how extremely silly cats are.... they kill me.

It is 11:15pm and the kids are about 30 minutes out. Thank goodness the tornadoes and severe weather have moved farther north.. just light rain with occasional lightening.

I need a joke or something ... 30 more minutes... oh, haaaaa.. I know you all have probably seen this video many times.. .I know I have but it still cracks me up! love it... HAHaaaaa

Sigh...... are they home yet????

YES....11:36 and they're on their couch... sigh.... bed... exhausted... good night blog ol buddy ol pal....

    1. 'morning, Teri ;) ... thanks - lots of commute problems this morning it seems. Lots of flooded streets especially in the southwest area - fortunately we're in the higher area.

  2. Hi Carolyn, I'm a worry wort too and 99 % of the time I worry for nothing. The imagination works over time and causes me to get worn out for nothing. Lots of energy wasted. I can be at the computer for a few hours at the most but TV , I can't sit there to watch for long. I just can't.

I'm glad that Yates arrived safe and sound to see his baby girl. I hope that you slept well. Here the sun is shining and we are getting summer weather and the snow is almost all gone except patches where there were snow banks.

I got a fair size baby heifer calf this morning, gave her her vaccine and she should do well. She drank a bottle and a third.

Hope that your day will be productive. JB

    1. Good Morning, Julia ... I know that worrying isn't productive but I just can't help it... thank goodness for the phones... Stephanie and I texted ever few minutes until they were home!

That's one reason I need to get on the road. I tend to just vegetate looking at the Tube! I hate it. I get so overwhelmed with things that looking at TV seems to dull everything ... sigh SIGH sigh.. Haaaaa... hopefully this weather will be over and out Friday and I'll be off.

You got another baby calf? holy moly!

It's still raining here and commuter problems with flooded streets but my part of the city is okay - we're up high even though we're by the river.

I hope to get a lot done today to finalize my leaving ... I know you will ... you always do! ;)

  3. So glad your son made it all right. That was some storm and it is still raining here. Yesterday and last night we logged 12.5 inches. Yikes.
I like your picture of the airport better.

    1. Thanks... yes it's still raining here too but thankfully no storms --

That is a fun picture - don't understand why the pickup - nothing against pickups but Arkansas is stereotyped so easily

wow... 12.5 inches - there's flooding this morning in some areas - commuter alerts but I'm in the hilly part - Heights area - so not much danger here... I'm going to get out for a bit - rain or no rain and do something other than sit here and watch it rain and TV! gah It's been swell but ... enough!

  4. Ha, I didn't even notice the pick up! But then, why would I? I live in truck land! ;-)
I still call our big airport Intercontinental, although it's George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

So the new projected date is this Friday! Good luck, I hope you can make it out! I'm not sure about my departure date now. I could stay & make a little money for a few more weeks. So don't know...

    1. They ran this picture - which, of course, is an artist's rendition ... in the newspaper without the pickup.!. hahaa

I just read your blog -- what a complete and total bummer! Yes... I went out and about and just got in ... the river is very swollen. The Arkansas River runs through downtown Little Rock and if I climbed on my roof... I can see it very well.

I wanted to build one of those roof decks... well? there's lots of stuff I wanted/want to do... as we all do!
